About Us

Underwater Sports Federation of India (USFI) is a non-profit charitable sports development organization of pan-India. It is registered under the Society Act. (BOM.XXIX of 1950, It’s Head Quarter is located at 4, Pune, Maharashtra, India. It deals with all the underwater sports, more specifically Finswimming (Pool and open water) Scuba Diving, Lifesaving Sports etc. We provide every support to the youths of Urban, Semi urban, Rural and remote areas of the country to flaunt their extraordinary talent in this new version of competitive Swimming i.e., Finswimming.

Dr. Tapan Panigrahi, Dronacharya Awardee an International Swimming Coach is the Secretary General of the USFI and the founder of this organization. He is highly respected due to his Technical knowledge, huge experiences, and versatility. He is highly qualified in Physical education and sports science and equipped with technical aspects of the underwater sports including Finswimming. He achieved the Level-1 Course of Finswimming, conducted by World Underwater Federation (CMAS). Members of every State Association of the USFI are also highly qualified in Physical education, training and coaching sciences.

WE also provide training, organize competitions at the district, state, and national levels for all the age categories and both the genders. At present, 29 states and 5 Union territories total 34 Associations are affiliated with us, and more than 350 districts of the country are under its governance. USFI is the only Apex Body provides National platform for the youths of our country.

Our aim is to create a huge base of Finswimmers at the grass root level, from where we can have a sizable “talent-pool” to explore their potential. We have planned to have one National Finswimming Academy in the country which would be centrally located and under this National Finswimming Academy we will have 5 Zonal Finswimming Academies in India. Each zone will have an average of 6-8 State Finswimming Academies, and each state in turn will have on an average of 10-12 districts. Each district must have a District Finswimming academy where many Clubs, schools, universities and interested groups may be associated with this sport(S). When all the centers /Academies start working with good coordination and synchronize with each other, a revolutionary action in competitive Finswimming will be seen very soon and, an excellent and sizeable number of talented Finswimmers will also be seen in International competitions who will fetch laurels for our country.
